To maintain the beauty of your home it’s important to be aware of symptoms of rising damp. You must have come across in your house or others the presence of damaged skirting boards and floorboards, crumbling or salt stained plaster along with peeling paint and wallpaper etc. All these are counted as major symptoms of a rising damp. Usually, rising damp is caused due to ground water moving upwards through a wall. Most of the walls allow this insertion of water but can be stopped from causing damages if a barrier known as damp proof course is inducted. They are nothing but a horizontal plastic or slate strip that inserted into the walls of a home. If in case you forget to do this course or become ineffectual then chances may become high that your home walls become prone to rising damp. Make sure that this type of damp may occur if the outside ground level of your home is higher than inserted damp proof course enabling the water to go above it.
